These two were liplocking and their coloration is much more extreme than usual. They are wiggling and following each other around. I also noticed them chasing the other JDs. Does this mean they will be mating? You can't tell from the pic (maybe because of flash) but they are both a very dark blue (sold as electric blues), so I guess the babies won't be fertile or live very long?

Also, do I need to move the JDs that are being chased? There are two and they are hiding and have faded coloration.

They're both males so they're just being aggressive towards one another. And those are regular JD's.

I've attached pictures with the actual correct pair, sorry. Also I tried to take one without flash so you can see the real color. I agree it doesn't look like an electric blue, but aren't JDs normally green?

Also, the picture is still pretty inaccurate. It's a dark blue, not a candy blue like in the no flash short, or green like in the flash shot. Also there is no aggression between these two since they liplocked. They follow each other around and do the body wiggling thing, and they also chase the other JDs together.

well these are still normal JD's, but they might be pairing off. You should wait for eggs before moving the others. Usually when breeding they develop a "breeding dress".

The breeding dress looks like this (sorry for large pic)

And this is an electric blue JD

wait and watch for eggs then remove tankmates and get ready for fry

Well I guess I overpaid then. Good news is the fry might live then if they do breed.

Here is a vid if that helps any. It is more blue than my other JDs, but definitely not like that picture.

Wow, they are really nice. I hope they breed for u!

I had to move the other two full grown Jacks. The other male's fins are shredded, and the other female (I think) was lying in the plastic plants not moving at all.

If they do end up breeding, will I need to move the smaller jacks out as well?

Can u put a divider? Very nice blue in that jack, ive seen a ebjd breeder and it looks similar. Good luck thaty are awesome fish.
