At about what size can one expect their jag to look like at maturity? For example: if one has a 12" jag has it's adult markings already developed or will he still change quite a bit?

:iagree: i think the adult markin start coming at 6-8"

Right now mine is only about 9" and I was just curious if he still had some changes ahead of him.

got some pics i doubt he has many changes left to carry out, if any..

The markings may change a little as time goes on, but for the most part I'd say yours are what they will be. Obviously the fish will continue to grow slowly, and as he does, his pattern may change slightly, but nothing drastic.

I just took a peek at your guy- he's a looker! That lateral line may or may not remain prominent. It is pretty dark right now, and that may fade, and the smaller black splotches may darken, but like I said, probably nothing drastic. I like him the way he is!

Thanks I really like the way he looks as well. I actually hope the lateral line stays very prominent. :)

You should be able to tell at that size. Mine will change according to mood. He fills in between the spots with black to give himself stripes or larger lateral line spots. His stripes look like a V when he gets them. Here he is...this Jag is 12.5"+. If you squint your eyes looking at the pic you can clearly see the spots. Yours looks great btw, I can see his nice purple sheen.

NIce looking jag.

I see you have yours on sand, a lot of fish darken up when put on black gravel/sand do you think that the jag would do the same?
