Jag adult markings

I see you have yours on sand, a lot of fish darken up when put on black gravel/sand do you think that the jag would do the same?

Jags look best in a bright enviroment as the colors and markings are more distinct. Dark enviroments make them look black like they are stressed. I have noticed that they hide more in dark enviroments too.

I agree except for "hide more in dark enviroments" part. My Jag turned psycho-cichlid in the other tank. I didn't keep him there long with his superdark (unattractive) coloration and killer instincts taking over.

I had mine in a 29 gallon for a little while because one of my fish was beating on him and I noticed he would hide until another fish swam by then he would just hammer it. I guess it was a preditory instinct for ambushing but he would hide until then lol. Now he is a little more bossy and very colorful ever since I put him back in my 125.
