JAG Down (sort of)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Me either. She attacked another cat a while back but i know for a fact it was in self defense. This time i have no idea what happened but self defense is definitely off the table. The jag cats dont bother anyone
Except may be at the feeding time? I thought you had said they are insatiable and even push away far bigger bichirs, so might have nosed or pushed the wolf?

Also, as Moe says, could it have been a hide dispute?

I thought about feeding time but from what I gather he usually watches and he said he didn’t see this happen. Pushing a wolf from food could definitely agitate it. I don’t think it was a hide thing either seeing the way his jags hide in the vids etc lol.

My best guess is late night aggression. The main time my jag is a jerk is when lights are off and usually some time after 1am. He said he’s never seen his jags show aggression, but maybe because he’s always sleep? But idk his sleeping schedule to assume that lol. Was just sharing what I noticed with my one specimen.

Ouch.. sorry to hear that.. hopefully the jag will heal no problem. And I warned you wolves can do alot of damage without trying. Sucks there’s not much of a way we can prevent it. Just depends on how they interact. As long as you know the risks though. Hell Inwanted try out those freshwater eels Wes gets but I don’t cause the wolves.

Only time I see my jag be a jerk is late night with lights off or someone tries to squeeze and hide with her. I’d take the wolf if you were closer.

Yeah moe pretty much hit it on the head. At 1st i thougjt maybe one of the polys accidentally did it during feeding. Its common for them to miss the food and nip another fish. Happen with the vulture. But the wounds are usually scrapes not chunks taken out. The wound also appears to be from repeated biting and not uniformly do e. The polys are big the bite mark would have been more reminiscent of a shark bite on a surf board. Plus the wife and kids saw the wolf chasing the cat.

Moe i could meet you half way. Say Wilmington. If i dont gwt any bites on the market place unfortunately i'll have to donate it to an lfs

Not even a week later. Shes almost totally healed. Ive been doubling wc's and the ridx dosage20181012_120042.jpg 20181012_120038.jpg

Amazing regenerative ability, I've seen wild fish recover from pretty horrific injuries and not even have any obvious scarring

It is pretty amazing. I was optimistic it would survive but wouldnt have been shocked if she didnt make it

Welp it happened again. This time it was one of the polys. Jags are recovering in a separate tank where they will remain.

Nope just woke up one day and both jags were badly wounded. My son and i had cut away some dead/dying chunks of skin amd fat that were just hanging off of one of them.
