Jag growth thread....

Biggest around 2 1/2 inches... different colored under lights and at night along with whatever mood changes occurring...

They look well fed. The light color one to the front of the bottom 3 pics looks a lot like my female did right before she started laying eggs body shape wise, the way is fattened up. I know it's still to early to tell at that size, so it must just like to eat. By chance is that the dominant one of the bunch and maybe it eats more to keep the others from getting the food and not just because it's hungry?

Thanks....that is the same one from the previous set of pics on 3/7...that fish goes from light vertical bars and lateral blotch to dark or to lateral blotch only to almost no pattern at all with a silvery gold color.... The majority of the pics I posted have been of that fish all the way back to the beginning of this thread... As you guessed It is definitely the most greedy and dominant one and does not believe in sharing .I feed them as I'm taking pics because prior to they're moving in fast forward begging for food when I come near the tank and won't hold still long enough to take a decent picture... I put in a cube of mysis shrimp for example and the group will eat at it and once it gets a little smaller that biggest one will to take it all... I put in a little more food hoping that the other ones will get it and he gets that too... But at least at that time they're all holding still long enough to take a nice pic .Here's a not so great pic that I got this AM prior to feeding.... I believe that fish is male but with jags juvies you never know... time will definitely tell....

And then there were 7......
Came home Thursday evening saw the smallest or tie for the smallest one stuck to the filter..... Not feeding them that much this week may have contributed to that ...I made a mistake and left their frozen food out Sunday night so I threw it out the next morning .. didn't have time to get any more this week and so I had been feeding them sparsely... (I did use cut tilapia as a substitute which they ate with gusto ).... They're obviously at a point where conspecific aggression is a factor... I was and am thinking about thinning down the numbers ... It did give an unfortunate opportunity for the fish to get a post mortem measurement....two and a quarter inches... This was one of the runts... The biggest dwarfed this fish by a lot and must be 3 inches at least ...on the other end of things the parents latest spawn hatched and I have a massive amount of wigglers as of friday night..... Stay tuned for more pics this weekend... Hopefully not of dead fish....
