Nice pic...do you plan on keeping any fry?. .
tx, The big fish will be moving to a 150g at some point. I dont know, at this point,, whether I'll keep any into adulthood. I am curious what they'll look like.
I sucked most of the remaining substrate out of my tank yesterday,,, with a vacuum cleaner hose. The only thing big enough to work, that I had. it was like sandblasting..The 5 gallon bucket I was using would full in seconds. Miraculously I didnt have any major spills. It had about 60-70 lbs of crushed coral and fine white sand, from a Malawi set-up, a number of years back. Now 99.9% of it is gone and they have just large flat rocks on the bottom. No caves.. Just not enough room. When I first did this, the male went nuts,, seems like happiness.. just swimming, very quickly, up and down side to side. -And this, in their tiny cells,, -4' tank divided.. She bounced right back from his gnawing, -he got over the divider day before yesterday. She heals so quickly. Wish I could do that, heh

Given good care jags heal well... My male needs to periodically regenerate his fins do to being ripped up by the female.... I have hose to the sink hook up for water changes.... But to remove fry or filter media cleaning l use large laundry type bins with the handle to siphon water into they probably hold around 30 gallons of water.... You should try to keep a few fry nothing like raising a fish from scratch ..I find that they are the most responsive and have the best appetites ...you could train on good food from an early age.....

Thanks... Here's an update my college grad daughter has a 75 gallon tank and she's been asking me for some of the fry so she stopped over after work today and I gave her three ...I'm down to four now but that has been in the works for a while... I drained the water down to a couple inches so as to get them out and do a water change at the same time.... Then decided i wanted to get some measurements since I was taking fish out of the water anyway... but of course didn't get any pics... we were moving quick to avoid any mishaps so the measuring process didn't go quite as I wanted ( I know the mfk motto pics or it didn't happen) but take my word the biggest was nearly four inches... At first glance looked four inches but was a little shy so at least three and three quarter inches for the biggest... I'm not saying that I kept them in the most optimal conditions but I'm nearly getting that reputed 1 inch per month growth of managuense and the goal I was shooting for...next stop 5 inches by end of next month....:)... Stay tuned for more pics later this evening after they settle down from the invasion of their area....
