Jag growth thread....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Your thread has finally convinced me to give breeding a try... Just ordered 8 1.5" baby jags online that I'll be throwing in my 55g by themselves until I can pick out the females, then will be throwing the females in my 125g with my 10" male jag and hope he'll pair up with 1. Got a divider for the 125 already, I know that's 1 of the most important things I'll need... Any advice or tips for me that you've learned along the way?

Thanks ...I feel good that the thread inspired you.... I think that is a sound plan that you have... any plan will have some variables.... What I see is that your Jags may get crowded in the 55 in a few(maybe 2 months) ....of my 8 I lost 1 to aggression when they were in around the two and a half to three and a half range.. You may have to be prepared to divide the 55 yours will be growing up in as well.... I have as you see in the thread removed 3 of the 7 by giving them to my daughter for her 75 gallon ... raising the remaining four in the original 75 gallon.... Thus far I see them all with their fins for the most part intact.. Also bear in mind it will be approximately 5 months from that size you are getting yours at that any female you get will be able to breed ...ime.... For example my female was around that size in late July early August 2012 and spawned for the first time New Years Day 2013... During that period I kept them in the 120 divided from early November 2012 up until that day ....I noticed her spawning tube prominent took it down and they spawned .... Good luck will be looking forward to seeing your new grow outs.......
