Jag growth thread....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
WC jags just started laying, never get tired of watching this. last batch finally sold off, got JD fry ATM also but have a cycled 34g for them, and a 75g for these new guys when they ready, around 6 weeks from now.

I also have a W/C pair of Jaguars that I got from Jeff Rapps that spawned for the second time last week. The first time there had to be hundreds of fry.Was told that they are great parents. But within 3 weeks the majority of them disappeared. That was about 5 weeks ago.I did manage to save about 25 of them. This time there seems to be hundreds of fry too.The pair are around 7 inches big and are in their own 90 gallon tank.

you have a sponge or pre-filter on your intakes? and tank size?

sorry, just saw you posted tank size.

they raise like a cloud and not have pre-filter intakes , wither a boot or a block sponge with a hole cut into to go over the filter intakes they will get get sucked up.

I have pre filters on 2 A/C 500s and a filter pad from a whisper filter over the intake on my FX5 canister filter. The 3 filters are on my 90 gallon.

if all intakes covered then i would go with the male or both, there is a discussion on not just jags but any of the larger size cichlids eating there young in a smaller tank. i would put a 90g in that category.

Every once in a while I'm seeing the male chase the female around the tank.I do have places for her to hide. The Jags are only 7 inches. Is a 90 gallon too small for a pair that size?
