Hatch day 1 year old update :...To be exact ...Parents spawned on 11 /20/2013 and the eggs hatched 11/23/13... A year ago now they were not even free swimming ...these are the remaining four grows out that I have... As some of you may know I lost the parental male so there will be no more spawning.... The two largest ...well one as earlier documented is definitely female(and has laid eggs on at least four occasions) and I'm sure the other one also is female ( almost identical to the mother) .. They look to be 9+ inches and 8 plus inches respectively... The two smaller ones are dark all the time and look to be only about five and a half to six and a half inches long... One seems to be possibly a male but I'm sure they will have to be in their own environment to where they have less stress and are not at the low end of the pecking order to develop faster.. The two dark ones and the smaller female are in my 120 gallon (with their mother, a male Texas cichlid and a male Texas / jag cichlid hybrid) the larger female is in my 150 gallon which is divided and she is living in the space with 2 Texas/jag hybrids with my male midas on other side ...Here are the pics....
Largest one the female is named stud Lena...

It's really great to see them progress throughout a whole year. They look great and I can't wait to see them in another year!

Agreed... I'm looking to find new homes and thin out my population with or maybe without those two... They have been at the low end of the pecking order all their lives... The second largest female was also a dark in my 150 when she was with the larger female but lightened up after I put her in the 120.. I would have put those two at least in my75 by themselves but I recently unexpectedly came across some long desired by me motaguense that I'm growing out in that tank... Until recently I've never been one to overcrowd my tanks....group shot...

Latest pics on female grow out jag I focused on when I started this thread a year ago today... Otherwise known to me as the jag which at one time I might have bet my paycheck was a male...I do not have an official measurement but i am sure she is at least 9 inches..she was 8 inches back in august when i moved her to my 150 gallon ..she lives in harmony with a male Texas /jag hybrid...they are both very interactive ,responsive and will feed on a variety of food 24/7 if I let them...they spawn regularly( at least on 5 occasions) but I am very content that they don't produce fry....her name : "Studelena"......
