Jag hybrids

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you may find allot of folks do not like to hybred. That being said, jags aint picky, long as the male can own her. or at least try to.
I have a tank with over 125 different cichlid types and over 225 fish. The hybrids I find amazing some have such crazy colors. I had something Bread with a rusty cichlid and it came out this brownish blue color that I have never seen on a fish before. He's colors changed as he swims around the tank. But that is only one of them there are so many baby that have crazy colors.then there are the plan ones too. I find it interesting that they can have 20 baby's and they all look different. I also thought the population would control itself but here I am a year later and I need fish birth control lol I have never seen baby fish swimming right by the bigger fish and them not doing anything. I don't know if it is because they are well fed or what? But it is crazy to see the big fish don't even look at the baby's. Don't know what I am going to do because my tank is getting a little crowded.
Good luck with the breeding!

Thanks for the info! Can you explain the why behind the ‘F2 back to F1 part? I’m assuming F1 back to Jag to bring out more of the Jag characteristics?
The line is called Chupacabra 625 for 62.5% Jag. At 625 it’s still essentially a faded jag but lowered enough to the breeders liking I suppose for more Flowerhorn influence across the board while still maintaining the jag look. The F1 back to Jag was just done to breed back to F1 to hit those %’s that OP was looking for as too much jag is not a good thing usually as jag is very dominant.

Wow.. I almost forgot about this post. Anyway, he's now a foot long mean sog who attacks anything within and without..inc me. Can't even introduce a female for him.. Yup, tried the pot plate & round fence method too. Guess he's happy having a 5' setup all to himself.
