One of those fish I've always wanted but never seem to have room for. Guess I'll just have to enjoy yours! Thanks for sharing.

I think they are underrated since they are a common fish. They represent what so many like about cichlids. They are personable/responsive fish. They go crazy for food every time they see me and are great parents. Very active fish that are always checking out there surroundings.
they are both great quality but I sure love the spotting on that male.......how big are they now? does he beat on her?
Nice male!I love the finnage on this guy. Reminds me of the Jaguar males in cichlid tank in Chattanooga aquarium.
Without measuring them in the tank I would say male around 13-14" and female around 10-11". It's been a while since I held a tape measure to the tank....they might be a little smaller than that guess. His patterns and color are great. They are the best pair I have had.....very little aggression. He will blast on her when spawns are a few days free swimming though. She can get after him to.....for 90% of their time together they get along very well and are a great pair. I never have to intervene.
