JAG-what do you think?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He is in a 125. Look at my pics in the original post. Thanks for the comments guys. I appreciate the advice. I have tried every pellet their is but this jag will only eat the tetra flake and the frozen and live foods I previously stated. I am really starting to think that it is a Male. (hell yeah)!!!! He has grown an inch+ since I got the 125 a month and a half ago. He was a little under 3" when I setup the 125 and now he is right around 4" He eats like a pig and is getting real thick. His stripes are really breaking up and he is getting some very nice spotting. I got some real nice shots last night, I will try to post them later tonight.:D

I am not an expert either but comparing your little guy to my little girl who everyone sexed for me.. here ..i would say yours is a male.. my little female had alot less detail in her design and pattern.. cute little jag!!!!:)

Here are a few more that I snapped last night, really like these shots. Really looks like it is gonna be a boy, IMO

Here ya go. Male on left, female on right.

From my readings, the males fins have a obvious spotted pattern whereas females dont, or only have a little. The males lateral line(big thick line that runs across his body) breaks up and the black spots become tighter and smaller. Males may have a purple sheen to them. Hope that helps a little. -Jeff

This is my baby girl who just laid some eggs so i know she is female for certain.. hope this helps..

Sorry it did not download..here we go..female jag baby

Dam I am so confused i have a tank of 8 jags. im trying to get a breeding pair out of them and most of them look like the females compared to this pic. but they have a very light purple sheen to them and have spotted patterns on there fins. they are only 3 inches though. I think i might be jumping the gun trying to sex them.

3" is still jumping the gun, I tried sexing mine at 3" and I was still clueless. For males, the breaking up of spots dont come till at a later size, I never had one past 3" but I know at 3" there wont be distinct differences between male and female. -Jeff.
