The pics I posted are fairly recent. He was, like I said, around two inches when I first got him, and now is around 5. I got him in May of this year, so in my care, he's about 7 months old. That would be less than 1/2 inch a month, but this guys puts bulk on just as much as he does length. Right now I have him in a Q-tank for an eye problem, so he isn't as photogenic as I'd like him to be, but I'll update pics soon.
Thats a pretty good growth rate.. looking very good to me.. thanks and hope he is better soon...

I only got him around a month ago and he's about 5-6" and he's like the same now...

I think it takes something out of them until they settle in..and then once they settle down they gain the weight..so interesting if he changes this new month.. also it depends on who else is in the tank competing with him..

Topoftheline77, that sure is a nice lookin' fish in your avatar.

And I agree that a minimum size tank a full grown or nearly full grown Jag should be housed in is at least 18" inches in depth (front to back) like a 75g. You could get by with a 60g (14") when it's under 12 inches or a 55g (12") until it's about 10".

Good luck with your newly aquired Jags guys! May they become MONSTERS.

xEchOx, how well do your jag and GT co-exist?

Not well, but while they were in the 125 together, there was enough space for them to get away from eachother. I had removed the jag for quarantine, about 2 weeks ago, and replaced him with a male tex, now that was bad news. I had to remove here about a week later.

wow im suprised this thread got so much feed back i love it..nd i love how every has jaguars...woooo

Was it the Male Tex :WHOA: giving you the issues or the Jag?? I am trying to understand because I am thinking about adding a Jag to my 125 and removing my GT.

It was moreso the Texas that was giving her problems (I think he was trying to court her, but she wasn't having it.) The Jag would only cause problems when they ran into eachother, the tex would actually follow her around, and really beat on her.

I would be wary of adding one of these guys. It will probably work out well for a while, but if you don't want to upgrade the 125 or give it to him solo, then I would stay away from male jags for sure. Although my guy only causes occasional problems, he is only 5 inches. I expect that when he reaches 8-10, this will be a different story.
