from what I have read, the introduction of aquarium fish into Hawaii's native waters has introduced diseases like the parastic worm camallanus and affecting native fish species there..

sucks..but thats what happens when pet keepers dump their stock into places where they will survive and breed...

yeah.
i wasnt gonna mix aquarium fish with native water fish.
if anything id keep the native water fish all in one tank.
but i doubt id get any since i dont really have a ride anywhere. lol
:/

How weird... Lame ass pet owners sad really how dumb people can be.

Theres a stream right in back of the jungle river mini putt coarse by toys r us thats full of convicts and other types of cichlids. Ive also caught some really nice red devils in lake wilson.
Oooohay....... By Pearlridge mall.

If you want to see huge jags go to the Ala Moana mall. They're in the pond by the escalators on the bottom floor. Easily 16". I highly doubt you saw jags in the canals. From all the fishing I did in them all I caught were tilapia, convicts, and plecos. The random man-made ponds are a different story.

The UH campus has all sorts of interesting guys from college students dumping fish (convicts, green terrors, 5 star generals, red devils, jags, bala sharks, tinfoil barbs, oscars), the Hilton by Fort Derussy has all sorts of africans and some huge giant gouramis. Lake Wilson has peacock bass, red devils, oscars, snakeheads, tilapia, etc. www.hawaiibassfishing.com

I was looking through the picture gallery on that site...this is some sort of Amphilophus, isn't it?

Yeah, some barred mutt. Odds are lab X cit like most "red devils" or "midas'" out there. Seems about 5% of the devils are barred, I only ever caught one barred.

Dont doubt me brother, on Kapiolani there are drainage canals near the streets, but I cant imagine how one would fish from those particular canals without trespassing. The jags were easily visable, and confirmed by locals.

im about to go fish em out too! haahha
i wanna know where!

if you want some nice peacock bass.
lake willson in wahiawa is a good place to fish for em.

On Kapiolani a few blocks before the 24hr fitness, I walked from the Mc D's to 24, there are 3-4 water ways that I passed.
