BTW what the heck were yours doen in FL? LOL Vacation???

there have been lots of CA/SA cichlids introduced into the canals in FL. people have caught red devils, midas, mayans, jags and tilapia down in FL. :( that's why it's important to keep your fish in your tank and not dump them into a local river.

jags are awesome fish so good luck in getting one. I agree that if you buy on online to get it from Jeff Rapps. otherwise, you should be able to find one at an lfs somewhere near you. I can find them for $3 at most lfs near me. :)

Here is some inspiration:)

i have had lost of jags in the past ranging from large to small. all of them have been different. some aggressive some dominated by fish even smaller! i have also had a jag kill my arowana and they were of the same size. mind you i am in australia so none of these jags were caught wild.

I would crap a brick if I were fishing and caught something like that on my line! LOL I did not know folks let there fish go in the wild. We dont do that kind of stuff around here, gets cold in the winter, well cold enough. I have called every fish store under one and a half hours from my house and they all say they cant get jags right now.

How would I get ahold of Jeff Rapps, I'd get one from the other guy who posted, but his Jags are 5 inches, and my Oscars are 3-5, so I'd rather get a 2 or 3 incher to be on the safe side.

All of you have been so helpful,
Thanks

mine is very territorial but not too mean, he'll flare a lot but the only time i've seen him lock up is when another fish initiates it

this is the pair i had brought back from florida i still have the female.

They are beautiful!

I know you said the offspring were 5 inches, and my biggest oscar is 5,3 about 4 inches, and 2 that MIGHT be 3 inches now, so I'm a bit scared to add one that big right now....

The two little oscars were ill when I bought them, though I did not know it. They came down with ich, and I treated it but they still seem a bit weak. I will have to wait, I think untill I get the new aquarium set up and see then what I can do. I think the best thig to do now is not rush into something. I will keep you in mind though, do you think you will have any left in 3-4 weeks?

Would it be best for me to get a female or male? I'd think a female would tend to be less agressive, but I have no expirence with them so I'm just guessing here! LOL :)

they can get pretty mean but its all on the fishes personality, most people say its just a fish but they have feelings too... ut enough said im mad that my new dovii just got eaten/...uhhh

I just bought a Pictus cat yesterday, and saw it hanging out of my O's mouth today, sux I know. Sorry. :(

I would go with a male. Mine isnt agressive (although some can be) but IMO the males look much better.
