Jaguar Chiclids???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have no proof that this is why he did it. I had one once and he was the third fish introduced into the tank . He did not mess with the any of the fish. Then I add to more and he only went after those two fish. :screwy:

cichkeeper put it best..

My big Jag attacks my face and bites at my hands.. but gets owned by an Oscar of equal size, it's truley sad. This is one skitzo Oscar tho.. he bites the glass too. Most Jags can hold their own though, if not terrorize the entire tank.

african mbuna do very well with large CA cichlids, generally

spotted pictus and synodontis cats work very well too

That jaguire cichlid needs to be put in his place. it keeps attacking the python when doing water changes. Tough to lick the jerk as he's learning how to move so I can't chase him away.

Jagaur cichlids are some of the most overated when it comes to aggression. I have owned many including wild adults over the years and I have only ever had 2 aggresive ones. One is a F1 female and the other a F0 male. Those were only two who lived up to there reputation. So to answer your question yes you can keep other fish with them.

If I were keeping them other aggresive cichlids I would be more worried about that jag getting bullied. Of course when they breed all bets are off..

hey, 2 questions, What is the Life expectency of a Jaguar or any chiclid,

ALso, does anybody else notice that their Jaguars can be really moody,

Mine sometimes will have his run of the tank chase other fish watch me outside the tank eat alot, then one week he will just hide barley moving not eating,

I mean I know its weired to say hes frowning...but he just looks depressed... lol
