Jaguar Chiclids???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yea mine is pretty Mild compared to its Rep, It also seems to be more interested whats going on outsuide the tank then the other fish

I've had several in my day, these fish have to be the most unpredictable from specimen to specimen, and even from day to day. I have had some real wild ones, but my latest is a friggin dud, doesn't eat much...rrrrrrr

These fish can live up to 20 years, but not likely.....

Maybe...LOL. Took fifteen shots on 30 seconds. Here's a third of them...all the same:

Chris ~ I have a Citrinellum that is 16 years old. Twenty in the wild won't happen. Maybe in a tank. I've spoken to many of the "names" in the aquarium hobby (Rusty Wessel, Ad Konigs, Wayne Leibel...) Noe have seen or heard of one older than "Rocky".

I have in my 77 gal tank, 3 convicts,2 Kribs, 3 Mnubas, two plecos, a sun shark cat fish, some other africans and it used to be an aggresiver tank, When i added my Jaguar he acted like a sheriff and if any other fish started fighting hed chase them away..like a peace keeper.

Also i just added a cat fish i cought in a brook a week ago to the tank, hes doing great. I also had a sunfish in with them before but he attacked the rest of the fish so i let him go

how big is the jag?

What's the pH of that tank?

personally, I don't think jags are so much aggressive as they are territorial. if they have a large enough territory (which is very large) then they can be rather peaceful. however it's when they get stuck in tanks that are too small for them to be with other fish in that they become more aggressive. :)

I agree totally. If I put mine in a 150 it would not be happy with tankmates.
For the longest time I just thought I had a docile jag, but I never though about the amount of room it has until you pointed that out.
