:nilly:So i was cleaning my tank today and i got too close to the pot and both started to attack the brush. I looked inside and i found eggs. what should I do? I raised the temperature to 80 deg and covered the filter with a sponge. Do jag cichlids eat their fries?

they should be pretty good parents let them deal with the fry the way they see fit. I would watch the tank for increased aggression between the two of them, I have a pair of dovii with fry and I had to seperate them bc my fem just about killed my male. I lost about half the spawn to start with so dont be surprised if they dont all make it. Make sure not to slack on the water changes, nothing overboard just keep it clean. Anyway good luck with the eggs and just let nature take its course for now.

You can also wait until the fry are free swimming and then take a piece of hose and suck up as many as you can get. Then move them to a dedicated fry tank. You lose less of the babies that way and the pair goes back to breeding that much sooner.

Really nice looking jags big dood!

You should release a goldfish in and watch them over protective jags bring the pain lol

I'm not positive about jags but I'd say no more than a week. 3-5 days maybe.

From point of laying, it takes an average of 3 days befire hatching. The wriggler stage lasts a further 4-5 days. They are then free swimming after they have absorbed thier yolk sac. You should start feeding them fine foods such as daphina/cyclops/baby brine shrimp etc. When larger, you will know on instinct to move them up to larger foods such as crushed flakes, chopped bloodworms and frozen baby brine shrimp.
