My jag will follow me like a puppy. I love to watch him...he is an awesome fish. One of my favorites:) I just dont get my hand too close to him.
He bit the python tube so hard one night that blood started coming out of his gills....scared the hell out of me lol.

I think rallysman would have the best stories....but jags are definately one of the coolest I would say next to doviis...but I had a jag once that would jump for food..and would follow..me when the magnet scrapper would go across the tank...he would also play with food..like he would spit it and go after it and it would go pretty far before he got it...

only fish i have ever had that will not back down to me or anyone who comes in my room. both times hes got me, he drew blood. one of my favorite fish. just be ready for a big fish that will probably have to be by itself unless you have a huge tank. tons of filtration. huge frequent water changes. also one of the only fish i cant easily get a side shot of because of his tendency to try and ward me off.

females yes, but males not generally recommended in such small tanks, although it is possible if done right, which means massive filtration, and big frequent water changes. mine is in a 75 and has 2 whisper 60s and a fluval 405. i change about 75% of the water every week. it isnt ideal and ideal should be the goal, not just good enough. so in general you should have a bigger tank for a male.

Could one live in a 75?

I just realized I am one now! (the name under my username)

IMO, I wont hesitate to keep a single male in 75gallon. They should be around 14"-16" fully matured, which will even take a very long time (many years).

mine is about 15" and is about 3 years old. the males max out at 18-20" and although this size is rare, you need to be ready for max, not just norm or average. i was involved in a LONG debate on another forum for having mine in such a small tank, and by the end of it the consensus was that if done properly it is acceptable, but ideally they are in a larger tank.
