i think he's talking about wckmidas pair of jags. i think he did say they're male and female. they said that males are more rounded and females are elongated how much is that is true im not sure.
Males have more color then females... (A slightly different pattern with rainbow like tints to his hole body)!!! Also have longer extensions to there dorsal and anal fins... You may also vent them...

If you notice the difference in patterns on the two you can tell easy witch one is male and witch is female... Also look at the female and how rounded she is, shes ready to breed right now I would put money on it, put a male in there and in two week you would have eggs... You might even be able to see her vent but you can't see it from the angle in this pic...

I've had two different pairs of jags there a sweet fish to breed, I swear they must lay a million eggs cuz when they hatch it looks like the tank is nothing but fry... There truly awesome...
thanks a lot nateNnicole for the compliment and the info, actually both my females laid eggs not too long ago, after a week of guarding the eggs i woke up the next morning and it was all gone, i guess eventually they became chow. it would be nice to have a male.

I currently have (2) male Jags in a separate 125gallon tanks. W/ good hiding space for driftwoods and plastic plants. They are very territorial fish but will easily accepts all kinds of fishes except another jag or another fish that is of equal size (it will kill it). I believed the minimum tank for a jag in a community is 125gallon (6'), otherwise 4' tanks is ok, but jag must be solitary.
Other than that they are not as bad as red devils, midas, trimacs, FH.
Males jags and much better pattern than females and also gets a lot bigger.

My experience with jags are some are flatout evil and others are extremely docile. Right now I have a gold jag that's is very docile not one ounce af aggression towards other tank mates after he showed his dominance. I think especially with this jags it depends on each individual, I had one a while ago that was a killing machine worse then any dovii I have ever owned.
