what size tank she in and tank mates?

as an FYI, typically a female tank jag top out around 9" , this would be a 3 or 4 year fish, males at up to 16" this would be a 3 or 4 year fish.

My jags have there own tank, A 145g. and IMHO jags need there own tank unless you can run a 250g or larger tank.

She is in a 125 , currently with a peacock bass, clown knife, fire eel ← temporary 300 gallon being built for them. Remaining 5 silver dollars, ebjd, parrot fish, Pleco, and geophagus iporagensis

Note: she was also with a flowerhorn, fire mouth, oscar, and green terror the oscar was a rough, pig who I give away about 3 weeks ago he did rip up her fins other than that shes never been bullied.

need that 300 up soon, the bass. this going to be an issue, looking at a very large fish eater. what is water change schedule on the 125 with that stock?

I am under the opinion that large carnivore cichlids, Jags, Umbie, Dovii, peacock bass which I do not think is a cichlid need there own tanks for them to grow and thrive, and make fish keeping much less stressful for the fish keeper and the fish in the tank.

I do 2 water changes a week about 30% each. For filtration I have 2 k1 reactors and aquatop cf-500 which I plan on getting a sump eventually. Im so done with canisters. the bass hasn't bothered the jag and doesn't pose a threat. Bass is having a major mouth issue which I am still looking into.

I would suggest upping those water changes to fin level, 90%. do you have a water changing system such as a Python?

I do but I moved to an old house the faucets wont take to it or an adapter. Im not sure if its a water issue I think its more of a defect or injury. It started a couple weeks ago, ive had him for 3 months no problems his mouth randomly gets stuck while eating and he normally has to thrash around or smack the glass to set it back into place. I made a post about it on the cichla forum, but got nothing. Im working on clearing out one of my 29 gallons so I keep a better eye on him.
