I have an 11 inch jaguar who does not eat any kind of pellets. So the only 2 things I feed him is bloodworms and beefheart. He refuses to eat any kind of fish or shrimps either. So I figured i would feed him bloodworms mixed with hikari pelllets. For this I mix the pellets with thawed bloodworms, keep them for 15 min till they get completely marinated with the pellets, squeeze out as much water as I can from the mixture, microwave it for 40 seconds and finally make a paste out of the whole mixture. From this I make small balls with my hand and drop them in for feeding the jag who eats it with great alacrity.
Questions
1. Will squeezing out the blood/water from the worms make them less nutrirional?
2. Will microwaving the mix cause any loss in the nutrients?

Are the bloodworms frozen? If so they lack nutritional value anyway. The pellet probably will retain nutritional value.

Oh.. why are frozen / sterlized bloodworms so popular if they are devoid of any nutrition? I used to buy live bloodworms but because of the unbearable stench I switched over to frozen bws.

Frozen isn't totally void of nutrients but when frozen some nutritional value is lost.

beef heart is not a fish food, its bad for them, My suggestion is break to a quality pellet.
may take a week or 2 but he will finally eat them. and he can go 2 or 3 weeks with out eating, will not hurt him.

protein treats are fine, I do suggest freeze dried super krill soaked in boydes vita-chem over night for that. but again a protein treat once or twice a week. Other than that a quality pellet.

Thats a fact, I have raised A few jags, both WC and TB, he/she will eat. more than likes start by mouthing and spitting out but like all fish they need to imprint on there food. once thats done, they will feed on it just fine. Love that Jag Snap!!! at the surface.
