so i walked into the pet store today and they had a jag there hiding under a rock and it looked to be in good shape just in to small of a tank with crappy water.......now i no im stocked prety heavy already with 2 oscars and a gt and jd and a comman pleco
BUT i couldnt let HER?!! live in this small ass tank not fair she better off over stocked than in a 10 gallon tank with cloudy water

......
so store said shes been there for 4 weeks and that the person who traded her in had her in a 30 gallon and that shes a proven female and she has laid eggs before
now say she lays eggs in my tank she gunna end up becoming teritorial and destroying all the other fish in the tank thats the last thing i need
am i better off selling her or sticking this one out and seeing if it works out?
the way i was thinking its all males and everyones aggressive

one other thing is i no she or he has strips going dow the side but now that she or he has found a teritory in the tank there is no stripping just all spots
IMG00322-20100912-1910.jpg

makes me think male idk
doesnt seem to mean ether the oscar is bothering it if anything
but it shows no fear or care if oscar pokes at it it just keeps swimming

i say male also only because the stripes are gone once he has settle in the stripes are lost and just a bunch of spots
im going to say its 6inch to 7inchs and i feel bad im super over stocked
what do you guys think on stock issue and if the tanks going to be able to handle in

6FT tank
135 gallon tank
bare bottom
FX5
2 AC110's
FISH:
2 oscars
1 GT
1 JD
1 JAG
1 comman pleco

some more pictures of the jag after being in the tank a while
looks more and more like a male
but thoes strips in the beging
would a male have that if stressed out

It looks male to me as well, kept 4 jags in the past and all of the males had similar characteristics. IMO, you would be fine with the full stock list that you have if you keep up with the water changes and as long as you don't plan to have a pair in there.

As has been said, this is a male. Vertical barring ("stripes") come and go on males and females depending on their mood or who knows what. They may get darker or lighter, and taller or shorter (vertically). New male additions will sometimes turn solid black until adjusted to their new enviornment. They can stay this way for months.

All examples of Parachromis will have these vertical bars. Sometimes they show fully, sometimes not.

thanx guys for the info maybe it is a male
if this is a female and shes already laid eggs "the the fish store says" because the person who traided in the fish said it had laid eggs is she full grown at 6-7inch
if male how old do u think it is?
