Alright guys have a 72g bowfront FOR now.... I have a 6" jaguar and just bought a 9" mono p. bass the jaguar will NOT leave him alone. bought z danios as a distraction and the p-bass picked them off about 1 a second when i put them in. Should I toss another better sized fish in there (one they cant swallow) to spread aggression?? They have hiding spots but the jag will come all the way across the tank to get at him.

they are both new to this tank the jag was solo in a 36g bow now when I got this guy I moved them both.

If the jag was in there first then it will be very hard to get the jag to accept a tankmate

I agree.

If I was you I would remove the jag to a spare "holding tank" QT tank, bucket , ext....
and rearange the decor in the tank so the jag won't claim all the territory as his and see how that goes , jags can be very hard to break of that though cause they are BA cichlids lol ... other then that might have to seperate them

A 72 bowfront is too small for a 6" jag and 9" P Bass. That territory is all the jags in its eyes.

Dannios wont help and junk in the tank for them to hide in/behind doesnt do anything but take away more space from them.

Get rid of them and get something that doesnt get bigger than about 8-10"...and research the fish you get BEFORE you buy them. You shouldnt ever get a 9" P-Bass even as a solo fish if all you have is a 72g bf, regardless of what your future plans are.

thanks for side tracking this thread..... was not the question trying to find out how to curve the aggression for now. The tank I had the p-bass in didnt hold water so if you guys would like to start a fund go ahead and send me the money to replace his tank otherwise thanks for the seperating temporarily idea will try holding him in a bucket for awhile. also I lowered the temp the other day at it seemed to really reduce aggression.
