Jaguar pimple?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No it does not say on the box only that it contains sodium chloride.

I can take media out of my other tanks to reseed after the treatment, just don't like the idea of killing my filter off.

Can't seem to find API general cure in the uk.

I know what you mean about killing off your filter but in this case where you suspect is was the filter media it came in on, you would need to get rid of it anyway so I guess it's for the best in the long run.

I don't think you can get GC in the UK. I didn't notice your location when I recomended it. However you may be able to find Praziquantel and Metronidazole sold there. Prazi Pro is Praziquantel if you see that you can use it.
FYI Sodium chloride is common salt.

Sodium chlorite i typed wrong; thats the only active ingredient on the bottle.

I'll try this stuff and look out for praziquantel and metronidazole, it must act quickly because it says to replace 25% water daily to help keep ammonia under control.

Ok so 24hrs into treatment the pimp[le still looks the same but i have noticed stringy poo.

Checked water parameters no sign of ammonia, got some new media in another tank filter. I'll replace everything in my filter after the treatment and take it from there.

Quick update,

Six days after treating the tank there is little sign of this pimple left, i did not get an ammonia spike and all the was parameters are about the same.

I have now done a 50% waters change swapped all sponges and media in the tank. I'll just fed lightly for a few day and monitor the parameters.

Big thanks to Aquanero you not only have the knowledge and the patients.

Thanks, good to hear it's doing better.

Just noticed the area around the pimple is now red, looks like an open sore. She also seems to have a really thick slime coat, i can see it hanging off here with bubbles of air in it.

Is the sore normal after a achorworm? is the extra slime a sign of anything?

Not really, might have somthing else going on there. Post your water perameters including PH & hardness if you have it. A new pic might also be helpful.

Ok took her out of the water to get a close up of the area that's red, can't really get a pic of slime coat to hard to pic up on my phone camera.2013-08-12 18.32.30.jpg2013-08-12 18.33.17.jpg

Ammonia is 0 ml/l nitrites 0 ml/l and nitrates are 20-40 ml/l ph 7.0. Don't have a why to test hardness of the waters at the moment.

Since you just treated for anchor worm I don't want to or really see a need to medacate again. Add 1 tablespoon of salt per five gallons of water. Do 50% every other day water changes for the next 10 days and replace the salt removed by the water change. Keep and eye on it and please report any changes in its condition.
