Just wondering who else has had problems with this brand heater.

I have a 1000K Watt Titanium heater for my tank and use a Jalli Thermostat Controller. This is the second time it's bombed out on me. The initial failure my local fish store replaced at no charge because it was only a couple of months from when I bought it. However after the replacement it's been about a year w/no problems and then booya, the other day it crapped out. It's been freakin cold here So.Cal the past few days and being my fish room is outside it get's hella cold. Well I went scrambling looking for a new Temp Controller in fear my tank will get ICk because of the cold water. I was in a rush to just buy a new one from Jalli, which I did and noticed the new units has a FUSE built in now. So obviously this company knew something was shorting out on their previous unit and has incorporated a fuse. As a company they should offer to replace the old units or provide a discount for a purchase of a newer unit. I just need to vent because now my freakin Bass has ick :(

Not really a serious problem as I've always been able to treat with just high temp and salt. But I was curious as to how many others have experienced something similar with this brand.

Yea, it's up and currently treating with salt. Already increased the O2 in my tank and bumped temp up..up..up. I'm not really concerned with the ick though. It's more the annoyance with the heater bombing out =-(

I've never heard of that brand either J, sorry pare.. But there's no better person to take care of it then you dood! :)

Read somewhere that the one thing to be careful with using Titanium heaters is not to overstress them. Article lead you to follow the watt per gallon rule a little closer, otherwise they'll burn out. I guess they require a cool-down temp before firing back up. I'll see if I can find the article I read.

Thanks pare. I really don't worry about Ick as this has always been an easy issue for me to cure. I think if you have an overall understanding on what it is and how to cure it's an easy fix. I think many people who have problems with Ick is that when they see it on the body of the fish they start to treat, bump up the Temp , add salt, etc.. then when they see the spots gone they think it's cured & completely stop, wrong.

Since the white spots on the body are eggs is when they fall off is when it's critical since that is when they hatch and start lookig for a host. Soon as I see that they have fallen off is when I do a 50% water change. It is at this point where the high temp and salt has to be administered as the high high heat kills them. I like to continue for at least the next 5 days. This method had always worked for me.

Combination of High Temp + Salt + Increase O2 = :headbang2

Also, i use Aquarisol as a prevenative.

I have two 1000K watt heaters for a total of 2000 Watts for my 600. Is this sufficient? only time I run heaters is during the winter time since it get's hot in So.Cal and being from the Valley I usually don't need them on. It's just this past few weeks has been hella cold.
