It seems he bred them. I was wondering if he put the wrong picture on the ad? Could it be a Cichlid? are there any from Asia?
I will break the news.

madagascar,yes...

ask him if there jet black with blue spots, there is a stunning cichlid from there called polleni, if you have the large spot there pretty rare, small spots are more common, but still a very rare cichlid,i used to have one

thats bold of you to break the news to him lol...and ya i do agree that there are asian cichlids they are not common in the trade tho

A couple chromides are from south Asia. A couple Etroplus are from below the Hindu Kush. Love that mountain range haha.

The guy probably got beat on a batch of lionheads and is trying to pawn them off because no LFS wants them. I bet once approached or emailed about the wrong ID, He will be completely oblivious to the situation. Somebody who sells fish obviously knows the difference between a cichlid and friggin goldfish.

I sent the email out I am waiting on the reply. I will keep you updated as to what happens next. I feel like a detective, my interest in really peaked.

ask him to take a picture beside a ruler/measuring tape?

that way it seems like you don't trust him on the length, not the entire fish.
Good Idea I will do that a soon as I get a respone from him.
