I wanna know if he was running a barebottom tank or if he tryed to break the line of sight. I know aros constantly swim, but if they are swimming around driftwood and not all ways eye to eye with another jar I am hoping it will help. many things are often thought impossible when concerning fsh, Discus were once impossible to breed, I have read many things saying it is impossible to house Dovii with other fish how many here do it. I have also read that it is impossible to have tankmates with Jars, seen that blown to pieces on this site.
I think I will try it, not now but sometime in the future, how will I ever truely know if I don't try, who knows I might do something different and it might work, its better to try and fail then to not try at all.
 
how about trying to get more than 8? like 20, 30, 40....? i bet this would work, with the occasional nip here and there. just imagine a wholesaler... would they really have that many individual tanks for larger jars? this cant be efficient for a wholesaler that sells jars at the 8-10" mark since they are infamously known to kill everything in the tank. i bet cramming them to the max would force them to school. this is what ive noticed since a local LFS has at least 30 jars in a tank and they seem to all "school" or at least hang out with each other. some had nips here and there, but nothing serious
 
No, I don't want to overstock and cramp the hell out of my fish. Thats why I only asked about 6. Just went down to my LFS to get a price on a 10x3x2.5, they'll tell me on sat.
 
In brissy i've seen a couple around 4-5" for $120-$150 but usually at most pet shops here they go for more like $180-220.

how much they go for down there?
 
For an 8" jar it will cost $140, 4" range from around $70-$90 depending on the store and Leichardti (the only one I've seen) is 4.5" for $95. I'll get them a bit cheaper from Gawler Aquariums and they'll order the Jars in at the size I want.

How much do theyt cost in Melbourne, I've got two mates going up there in a week and they could but me some if they are cheap.
 
'bout time we got something better than you guys, now how bout we swap, I'll pay more for Jars and Lei but be able to keep Cichlasomas.

My Jar cost me $140.
