jardini in aus

in orange bout half hr away they got a 6inch leichardti for 140 still way to much. i know i wanna go on a fishin trip up north. my mum lives in rockhampton i think they got jars there

I'm not to sure of the distribution in Rocky sorry. I can tell you that I have caught a wild leichardti in Wivenhoe dam, but it was only the one, and it was too big to do anything with other then release it.

But if your going north, why not collect some mangrove jack? get a few small ones and trade them in for a sartoga. Law states you can't profit from a wild caught fish, but i dont know if it says anything about trading them in. I'd even buy a jack off you if you could get one to me mate.

i think $200 is way to rich, $200 is not 100% mark-up for a 2-3inch fish its way over. i think $100 is reasonable for a 3 inch ish fish. its amazing how our native fish can sell for half the price overseas, but unfortunately that's just the way it is here in aus.

surely they cant be that easy to catch? they would be seasonal as well as probably need certain knowledge on where exactly to find them. hahaha thats a guess, maybe they are extremely abundant up north i don't know.

im also guessing it wouldnt be feasible to fishing for jardini's from bathurst. if it was on the way fair enough, but a deliberate trip would cost alot more than $200.

go for a drive down to syd, day trip would net you one for $100ish.

hth,

definatly to much i can get them around that size for 80-100.

maby because you are so far inland at bathurst but im no expert but that is still very steep.

Wivenhoe Dam, Hinez Dam, and I THINK North pine Dam has Jardini in there. I only ever see Jardini's at roughly 10-13" long for an average price of $220. I have never seen a Jardini in shops for sale that is smaller or bigger then the size I said. Bathurst gets far too cold to be able to support Jardini but I think you could drive into Sydney and save yourself $30 on the fish, but you'd only end up paying $30 in fuel getting there and back.
