Because nature isn't a glass box and people aren't chucking them in with 0% chance to survive.

granted but hadn't the mouse in question had already popped it? so the mouse either got munched by the snake or the aro.... either way anit nice for the mouse... im neither trying defend rex or get in a argument. just voicing an opinion that i feel is valued...

I'm not saying I agree or disagree with feeding mice to fish, but it really can't be compared to the wild.

I think we're mixing arguments here...
Of course one cannot compare a tank's environment with a wild habitat..

But one can feed a fish, in a tank, some sort of food said fish, if free, could eventually catch in the wild. And an aro in a tank will eat a mouse in just the same manner an aro in the wild would eat that mouse.

In the wild, the mouse could eventually escape and in the tank not...but that set of circumstances could eventually be created in a tank, also..

Having said this, and sometimes dropping in one or two pinkies ( spares from the snakes ) I don't realy think that fish digestive apparatus is greatly suited to digest mamal protein....:)

If you are going to feed the snake or the fish - IMO I would feed it already dead/frozen mice because A: it has no chance of extreme suffering and B: no chance of hurting the predator.

I think that everybdoy understood that the mouse, be it for the snake, be it for the aro was dead, right?

Like i had stated before the mouse was dead before it even touched the water. I would never feed my Jar anything that might be harmful to it or not fit in its mouth.

Other than the fact that a human placed said mouse in the glass box.

I'm not debating what you did was right or wrong, I really don't care.

The only thing that bothers me in this thread is the comparison to the wild.

feeding mice to fish is stupid and irresponsible. first they fowl up water and they are ment to be swallowed whole. ppl like like you who feed them to fish that cant swallow them claim it to be natrual. well it isnt as mice do not like water and do not live right next to tivers. the get water from food and puddles.
aside from the whole nature, suffering, blah blah blah

mice are packed with nurtients, very good for large arowana.

but that jar needs to gain some size before he can swallow it whole, looks like a struggle to get down.

and mice do/can drink from the river and are highly adapted for swimming if nessesary.
