I will be upgrading it as soon as it grows too big.

Sigh.... if it really is a 4x2 footprint then I really feel for that jar. What a life, going round and round in circles.

I never said 4 by 2, and it won't be going around in circles anyways.

Gosh. We didn't mean to upset you. The fish is 10"? How soon are you going to upgrade? It won't be able to live there much longer. I hope that didn't upset you, I just wanted to offer advice.
Yes it's only about 10 inches long, 9 inch and a half....

First of all, the fish is still small. Second of all, I must make measurements, because getting a flipping 1000 gallon tank when you have no space is useless. I need to find out the biggest tank we can have. Then I need space for massive filtration considering the fact that arowana are messy fish. Then I need to clean the tank. And finally I need to add all the other equipment. Getting a new tank is not just getting one, dumping a bit of water in it, then throwing a few fish in, it needs maintenance. So you people should realize that it's not that simple.

Don't get your nickers in a knot, I'm trying to help. A jar will not need 1000g, a simple 240g (8x2 foot print) will be suffice, or you could go a little shorter and go wider, such as a 7x3 footprint. Filtration is easy, just put a sump with FBF and wet dry under the tank, it takes up no extra room and kicks all other filters arses. A simple 1500g/h return pump and a couple of heaters and your set. Maintenance is easy, a water change once a week and wipe down of the glass. Each month pull the pump apart and give it a clean to keep it free of crap. I don't get why people think larger tanks are harder to maintain, I much prefer them over smaller tanks.

As I said earlier, I'm not trying to stir you up, simply trying to help. I know your jar doesn't need a larger tank just yet, but he will soon.
