Don't get your nickers in a knot, I'm trying to help. A jar will not need 1000g, a simple 240g (8x2 foot print) will be suffice, or you could go a little shorter and go wider, such as a 7x3 footprint. Filtration is easy, just put a sump with FBF and wet dry under the tank, it takes up no extra room and kicks all other filters arses. A simple 1500g/h return pump and a couple of heaters and your set. Maintenance is easy, a water change once a week and wipe down of the glass. Each month pull the pump apart and give it a clean to keep it free of crap. I don't get why people think larger tanks are harder to maintain, I much prefer them over smaller tanks.
As I said earlier, I'm not trying to stir you up, simply trying to help. I know your jar doesn't need a larger tank just yet, but he will soon.
