Hes on his side now, not fighting to keep upright anymore...

So I called my local arowana breeder, he said the exact same thing.

Since i dont have a extra tank, is it possible i can keep him in this tank, and lower the water down?

Right now i have the water droped all the way down to 5-6inches, and a airstone circulating the water.

Another thing the breeder told me, was to look for something called "Formulan"

I googled, and searched around, idunko if i got the spelling right but i cant find anything on it. Hopefuly he hangs in there, and i can get the formulan tomarrow. The breeder told me he will have it in stock then.

Im a little sketchy on the black water prodouct i am using.

Its called Nirox BIO-Lif. It comes in small tea bags filled with dried "Almond Leaves"

Last time i used it, my silver jumped out the tank... And theres no instructions on it other then "1 Packet per 150Liters" Everything else is written in chinese.

I think it's "Formulin". It's not looking too good from the looks of things ... but I hope he pulls through.

Good luck!

Wow, it doesn't sound good at all. Yawning in mammals is due to a lack of oxygen (not sure about fish), I use a couple of airstones. If I turn them off, my Aro will start mouth breathing much, much more. He may need more 02, which is very important. You sound like you've got a much bigger problem, but it might help. I hope yours pulls through, it's a bad sign when they start floating like yours, I have successfully brought one back that was that bad. The other 2 I've seen at that point didn't have a good outcome. Best of luck to you.

Sad story has ended.

He didnt make it. A few mins later after he went on his side, he stoped breathing and gave up...

I dont think arowanas are for me...this month alone i spent 100bucks for a silver and a jardini...both not lasting longer then 2 weeks.

Im gonna staya way from them untill a few years later, thinking of a Gar setup, or oscars for now.

:( Sorry to hear the jar didn't make it. :rip

So sorry to hear that, I know it hurts. Aro's are hard to keep, if you can get one 6" or bigger, they seem to do better. They are fragile, but it's an art I believe as much as a hobby. I hope you decide to try another, they are so much fun. I'm on my 3rd Aro and have learned enough now that it seems to be working. I was told by another fish hobbyist that under 5-6 ", their survival rate is only 30%, so don't blame yourself.
Good luck, I think they're an obsession, when I don't have one I really miss it. No matter, I hope tomorrow is a better day for you.

Just out of curiousity..is that a sand substrate? If I'm not mistaken, aro's don't really fair too well in a sand substrate..due to that the fine particles can irritate or harm their gills and overall health.

What was your parameters? Ph? Ammonia? Nitrite? Nitrate?

Temp?

Also, when you did the last w/c...prior to him getting sick...did you stir up the sand substrate?

Was this the same substrate you used when you had a silver?

Yeah its sand.

I used it on all of my fish, counting the silver.

I threw away the numbers of the water parameters. But everything else came out fine thats all i remberd. Ammonia was just a lil bit high after the threw up due to all the waste, i cleaned things out and did a 15% water change.
