You are reading into what i said too much beyond what i was responding too. Sure turtles probably cant survive in sewage water, or extremely cold water, or hot etc. But when it comes to ph or kh or ammonia/nitrite/nitrate its not going to matter. But i responded to someone saying "they have different water requirements." Which they do not, i'm sure most turts would be quite comfortable in any water a jar is.
