hay i am just wondering if anyone has ever heard of a Jauguar cichlid (Capone) and a a RBP (Dexter) being put together i have them both in a 75G (both 4") and thus far have not had any major problems. another question is do they both require the same amount of care (I.E. food, temp tanksize) any help would be appreiciated

Nothing should be put in with ANY piranha that you are not willing to lose it may not happen right away but sooner or later it will be killed.................................................

your cichlid will be food for the piranha..

Well concidering piranha are schooling fish, the jag will get much larger then the piranha and become very territorial. You'll most likely loose the jag while they are still smaller or if the jag survives I would say bad news for the P later on down the road.

Sweet... damn fish store they i was going to get another piranha but they were out and they said the jag would be my best bet. i guess i will go back and raise some hell and tell the fish man he is a moron. i alos have a 5" pleco that bullies the P and the jag is this normal i have never seen a pleco that is that aggresive.

EVEry LFS well tell you anything to make the sale..It's best to post and ask the question first before you buy them.

the pleco will do fine with the jag.

Keep in mind, that since he is a solo piranha, he will try to school with any kind of fish you put in there with him (at least the ones he doesn't think are food) Weird, but true, as I've seen it happen in my own tanks.

Aside from that, your jag will get too aggressive for your piranha, and will eventually beat him up.
So, as it was previously stated, it's better to just get another 2-3 Piranhas.

I agree with Sticky that LFS will say anything to get your $$

i'm gonna say that if you leave them together, the piranha will get :owned:

I agree Piranha are overrated and will get owned by the jag. Exp since he is by himself.

i agree with every bit of that:D the only time cichlids lose against piranhas is when the cichlid tries to lip-lock, 'cause the cichlid ends up with screwed up lips (or none at all). still, the chances are that the cichlid will own:headbang2
