Jaw Strength?

What fish do you think packs a punch in terms of JAW strength? Not about teeth but about who can lock down the hardest!!!!

Lung? Fahaka? Knife? Aba? etc?

I'd say it's a close tie between lungfish and puffers.

I would vote any of the various lungfish out there. Maybe some species of trout or salmon - I read they can absolutely shred crankbaits when angling for them.

IME trout and salmon don't have that impressive of a jaw strength. I've never really even seen them leave scratches on lures, even though they do have some small teeth.

You are probably right - it may have been their sheer size/weight in combination with the current that caused the damage.
