JD New Spawn, Panic question and need some advice...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok cool... think I'm just going to leave everything alone till Sunday when I'm back home and then I'll move them over to the 14g. If they start free swimming then I'm sure there will be some losses, but hopefully not too many.

Worried if I move them tonight they won't get any type of food till Sunday which is so long they might starve the poor little ones...

yer
but then the parent s might... get eaten
you could always ask a friend to feed them .... just show them how to first lol

Hey,
the second they become free swimming they will probably all be a nice meal for the other fish in the tank or the parents. Also, once they become free swimming its going to be much harder to get them out of the tank. If you want to keep them all, I would pull them and put them into the 14 gallon. But if your going to be out of town every week your fish are going to die either way. I had to leave one weekend and came home to find about 1/3 of my spawn still alive, the rest starved to death.

It was just these two weekends I'm away due to a family emergency...

How long before they go free swimming?

Well got home last night and where they had the wigglies seems to have gone missing... so either they are well hidden or they have been eaten.

Shame, but considering how quickly they've been spawning I think I'll get another chance soon... hopefully!

Well just two weeks later and here we go again!!

They've laid some eggs again... and no planned trips this time :)
