JD or Green Terror in a 55?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i feel like a 55 i too little for a pair of either of these fish. You could do a single of either IMO. I prefer the GT because i think they're prettier and have a better personality. In my experience, JD's are a little more skittish and tend to hide a little more. the GT's that i've owned havn't been as friendly as an oscar, but were a lot more interactive than my JD's.

you could also look at acaras, severums, or pairs of jewels, firemouths, rainbows and other smaller

sorry didn't see you had already purchased the fish. But good plants to keep with cichlids are stem plants like anacharis, hornwort, moneywort, etc.(a lot of these can be floated), crypts, anubias, java ferns. Some of these will get dug up every once and a while, but they're tough so just replant them.

You could try an EBJD (m) and a BGJD (f) pair as the EBJD grows far slower then the regular ones do, and often stay smaller. IDK, just a thought.

A JD pair in a 55 might be too much. Go for 2 females if you do get more than 1 JD. I think a female GT caould work on a 55 but a male would need at lest 70 gallons.
