Cool good luck with it

I just bought a Waveline DC12000 (non Apex Ready version) today for our new 265 gallon Reef Ready tank. I won't have it up and running for a month or two, but most of the reviews were positive.

Normally these type of power supplies have a LED power indicator built into the box that houses the converter. If your pump is surging I would definitely suspect a power supply issue. Watch the LED and see if it does a dance as well. Might be a $20 fix from Amazon. If you don't care to mess with it, or have replaced it, PM me and maybe we can work out a deal so I can get my hands on it to see what did fail.

The other component that these power supplies have that can fail after repeated use is the capacitors, but I don't see that being an issue since the pumps ramp up to speed and don't just go full blast, unless they are super low grade capacitors.

Audio/video apparatus just refers to its ability to power audio and video equipment. Means that it outputs clean DC voltage so you don't get static on a monitor or unwanted tones coming from your speakers. I've had this issue with a failing amp in my car. It is highly annoying.

Everyone that claims to be having good luck with their power supplies have been people who have tanks in their basement and the power supply is in contact with the concrete foundation which in turns acts as a make shift heat sink, not to mention most basements are cooler. Maybe the cure is just some basic ventilation added to the housing of the power supply. Give it room to breath. Who knows. I have two replacement power supplies coming that I plan to tinker with. For now the two power supplies I have running my DCT4000s have made friends with a PC fan I had laying around. I'm running the pumps at setting 5 and the cases feel barely warm to the touch. Ran out of light to make sure I don't flood the tank so I will ramp the pumps up higher tomorrow and see if the boxes get hot....... or fail :(

Red_Man Red_Man mine is in the basement but its right near the boiler room probably warmest room in the house and its on a carpet. Not saying your wrong maybe im not having issues because its on a low setting. Good observations though something to think about.

I am at 4/6. My adapter is sitting on the sump.

Is everyone running them submerged or in line? I am submerged.
