J jaws7777 These pumps run fine with the original power supply on setting 1-4, it's 5 and above that creates excess heat and mine was at 100% when it popped.

D Danh I run submerged.

I ordered my second one yesterday. I'll probably plumb it in to run both on Sunday. 4/6 is as much as my sumps can handle, so I guess I'll probably end up running both at 1 or 2/6. Maybe that's a good plan.

Thx for starting this thread man. You actually prompted me to think about ither pumps for another project. Still like the dct but its food for thought

DCT 6000. Running submerged at 8/10. Power supply warm to the touch. Been running for about 3 months. Happy with it so far, but will probably be buying another pump of another brand soon and keep this as a backup. 20160317_094930.jpg

What brand you thinking of going with

To be honest, I don't know lol. Need to research a bit. I want to have a spare pump regardless of brand, so I need to buy one anyway. And right or wrong, there's a part of me that cannot help but to be concerned that I have such an economical pump as the heart of my life support system for $1000-$1500 of fish...

I had the same thought run through my mind. I still have the old pumps I replaced so if I continue to have issues I can always swap them back in. Just really wanted to try these out. Also the noise reduction is awesome. I over sized my overflows and there was a lot a crashing water noise and everyone knows mag drives are loud. With the extra flow I now have the water noise has been reduced greatly and the pumps might as well be silent in my book.
