I've had this little girl for somewhere around 2-3 months. I know she's painted, sometimes the ink makes some wierd patterns under her skin, and for a while there, I thought it was fading....unfortunately, it wasn't :(

I bought her as a "Painted" Parrot at Wal-mart for $6, She has a little beak, but she's more round than a BP is.

Anyways, picture isn't uploading yet, so I'll post it later.

(BTW, she's my avatar!)

Picture at last.....Hopefully it's clear enough.....

I didn't have time to argue with photobucket earlier, since my fiance's mom was here to get us.

It's not extremely important to me which kind she is, I'd just like to know what kind of growth to expect out of her....ya know.

Looks almost like a full midas cichlid (The BP is a hybrid of the midas and a severum) but IMO you have a BP...They are very round as you described.

"This unique hybrid fish has a very small mouth and a roundish "balloon" shaped body. Perhaps they are called Parrotfish because their nose looks like a parrots' beak."

^I got this from http://animal-world.com/encyclo/fresh/cichlid/blparrot.php

Not sure if the ink fades away really, but she sure is pretty! Ten again, it could be the hybrid of the pink convict and bloodparrot (Then you REALLY have a mutt!!) SO yeah, I guess I'm no help. Hard to tell if it was pianted or not there.

Davey, I just want you to know, that you didn't help me any!! lol

Karajo, I know she's painted. Sometimes that ink moves around under her skin....it's really weird. But I had thought that Bloop Parrots had a more pronounced head area, as opposed to the kind of head and face she has. Well scratch that, I guess she does sorta have that very expressive-looking face!! lol. BTW, she thanks you for your compliment!

Right now she's hiding in her sunken ship, with one eye peeking out at me through one of the "holes" in the side of the ship, it's really cute!! ^_^

Brian's back to thinking about putting cichlids in the 75, or big puffers, (I prefer the cichlids, since we're not even at saltwater yet) but I'm thinking about getting a few blood parrots once he does.

i honestly am gonna say a painted jelly bean con. from that pic "sorry its small and all" i don't see any trademark parrot abnormalities. like raised forehead or beaked mouth and face. usually in these being so little, will show a prominate "beak head". but with the jellies they do not show this, they look very similar to a reg pink convict.

I wish this picture was clearer..... she has a noticeable dip between her eyes and where her back starts. Now she's starting to get dark lines on either side of her spine in her dorsal fin area...don't know what that is, but it looks weird. She also has an itty bitty beak. I'll try to get a better one soon, but I'm not sure what color background would show her features best, considering my camera hates me.

Dyed short body pink convict (often labled as jellybean parrot but other than the shape they are nothing to do with parrots, nor are they even hybrids). Treat her as you would a regular convict.
