Most don't make it past the first generation of fry. Its very possible to not get any usable fry from this first batch so I would say grow more than one batch just incase.

the hard part is growing them out and keeping what you think is the "ideal" red texas . I say keep the pearliest females and breed them back to a texas to get more of a texas body. When crossbreeding the possibilities are endless

Yea u right the grow out process is a mf u hope for sumthin and get nothin but I done seen unfaded rt breed with a Texas ,carpintas etc and produce faders so I guess it all depend on the fish.....I was gonna get a super red mammon to breed wit my Texas but I rather star from.the bottom....

Very true, somehow I have yellow looking fry from my srd b rt breedin I was like nobody has yellow but its from her trait

yellow, red, orange, etc are all common colors in fading genetics
