no Beta. they are air breathers and need plenty of surface area, plus a heater.

BETTER CONDITIONS THEN THEY ARE IN NOW!!!!!!!!

you elitist make me laugh some time:ROFL:

"Well technically this fish should be in such and such and kept with this and that or else nope you can't do it":screwy:

All i am saying, is that if i can house a fish even if not quite properly i can easily give it a far better life than that cup that it will most likely die in at walmart or any.....ANY pet store

Screw it i am getting a beta for my wine jug, i will fill the bottle about 3/4 of the way so that it has surface area not much , BUT STILL BETTER, get some bamboo, or another plant, and possibly keep it in with my lizard so that it is plenty warm, put an air stone in just for good measures ,

So screw all you betta elitist thats right screw you, maybe spend your time making sure something worth while is going to be ok, you know like ID sharks, Or Oscars that pet stores sell to kids that clearly can't house them due to the fact the ID shark will grow to be 4 feet. Pfft if i throw a betta in a frozen lake that is better than the cup its been living in

Rant over :nilly:

So no responses?

Yeah I got one. If you don't have the cash for school insurance and fish. put the fish on the back burners till school is done. go out make tons of money. buy a proper tank and come show us what you got. I wouldn't put anything into a wine jug it just doesn't seem right. I mean you can setup a 10 gallon for well under $50. Just get one CL and find a 10 with tops and lights. do no substraight and get a nice HOB filter. and you got a real tank not a supper cheap Jug.

Or at LEAST go get a clear rubbermaid tub.

I agree with the above poster. Why bother with a wine jug when you could get something far better for free on CL. Sure it might take you a few weeks but you'll end up with a 10 or 20g.

And if you don't have a lot of money why are you living the high life splurging on Carlos Rossi.. Boone's Farm Baby!!

haha didn't even know it existed!

I think it would just be cool to have a betta in the wine jug, i still stand on my earlier point that no matter what conditions i put a betta in, it will far exceed its life dieing at walmart or any lfs, in basically a shot glass . (or in those ornamental setups i see pooping up everywhere)

I can set up this to run quite well just needs some imagination, if things go poorly for my set up, i will put him in my 5.5 g, which is on reserve right now for a dwarf frog.

Just because the conditions are better doesn't mean they're good. Being homeless is better than living in Auschwitz but it still sucks.

Agreed, but better none the less, would you rather be in the wild or in the wild with a cave?, i still have no good reasoning to not set up a jug tank, other than spending some more money to up the conditions a bit, which will be done if i find he/she is not thriving

To be honest with you, It would probaly not be a good idea to do that. It would be holding 2 liters if not less with 3/4 full. Better than 8 oz. yes but still. IDK. And to be honest again it would be pretty cool to see a Betta in something like that with a little plant inside. It's your tank(just in this case :) ) so do what you want. Noone is going to hunt you down, if it doesn't work out then take him out and throw the jug away simple as that. Hope I've helped.
