Hello everyone again well i wanted to know i am introing some red wigglers to my ray and want to know how much do i feed him of it i am also feeding him ghost shrimp but to cut down on cost i want to add the earthworms in bc they are good nutriants for him. Now do i just was them before putting them in i get them from a bait shop and they are in some dirt so i washed the dirt off an dryied it then put him in the tank and he ate him whole and all...just wanted to know if i am doing it the right way and how to start eveing it out btw the shrimp and worms....(do you do 10 or 20 shrimp and 1-2 worms as an example) some info would be helpfull thanks!

if u still have him in the 40 gal i wouldnt feed him worms. it will dirty up the tank alot more then feeding shrimp

ahh ok i feed him one to see if he likes them and he ate it but i am holding off from food tonight and tom moring(hopefully it helps) to try and get the ph in the new tank to 6.5 the ph down is not working at all so i think i am going to use the ph buffer powder for 6.5 to get it there then i can move him in hopefully tom night...very active btw tonight!!

NOOOOOOO dont put any chemicals in to drop ph levels, if the ph is consitant, the ray will be fine, chemically changing your water is NOT a good idea

i agree

your better off just aclimating him to the other tank 4sure

ok this is were i get confused i have people telling me that its ok to drip rate him to the new tank w/ a ph of 7.6 and then i have people at the aquairum stores telling me NO it will kill him...now mind you these people in this store had to go to school before working w/ fish....so i am getting really confused about what i should do and i used buffers in his old tank btw and he was fine i just dont want to go thru all this crap and he dies on me i want to do it right! I LOVE HIM!! and spent to much money to try and keep him safe so i dont know who to belive to tell ya the tuth

ok, think of it this way, what ph does it come out of your tap at?
Do daily water changes on both tanks, thus it will stabalize at the same ph level. Rays can live in many different ph settings but the ph swings are not good for them. So by adding the PH dropper it actually harms the ray, get a couple pieces of drift wood in the tank that the ph needs to drop in, that will help, also daily water changes on the tank will allow both tanks to equalize, if you are worried about cycling it, just go buy some feeders and throw them into the new tank. This will help cycle the tank, you can also try switching some media from one tank to the other. But in my opinon that chemical ph swing, is a load of crap, because you dont want to be puting that in every water change, that just isnt healthy for the ray.
