like i said i was told it will stress him out if i do it daily?..and can i do a 25% water change instead of 50 not to get him upset? bc right now i take out 4gal so that i can double it to 8. and since i didnt feed him for a day the ph went to 6.5 i do try to keep him at that range bc i read they like the ph at 6-6.75 is that worng also? the book i got is one of the best for beginers its by a man named ross. (he has been very active still today and was around an about for most of he day almost like himself)

25% of your water would be 10 gallons, not 4 gallons, DO 25% water changes DAILY, it will not stress your ray out more then living in ****ty water does

Oh i know 10 gal is 25% i was saying i do a weekely water change of 4 gal on the 40gal as long as i am not going to kill him w/ kindness as u can put it w/ the daily water changes hen ok thanks!

Please tell me you're kidding about the 4 gallon weekly changes

Forget 25% just go straight with 50%...

no i was told to do it that way and hey i had him for 1 yr doing it that way so i never thought it was wrong....didnt know first time ray buyer been kinda learning for the past yr....sorry dont kill me for it...everyone here started somewhere right!

My bad, I thought any type of fish would require more than a 10% water change once a week...Im pretty surprised that ray is still there after a year though.

You have a very hardy ray there. Do a 25-50% water change daily and you will see the PH rise. If he handled that water in that tank, he will definetly handle the PH increase.

I think people ended up with comments that may have came across as rude to you because you made multiple threads that ended up at the same question as the others, and when everyone was giving you the same great advice you kept replying with "but the people at the store told me...". Obviously you came here for a reason, either because you did not trust the store anymore, or you realized the store's advice may not be the best. Either way you came here looking for help and people had to repeat the same thing many times before you decided to accept their advice (I am hoping you finally accepted their advice). I hope you get your pH issues resolved quickly and are able to provide the ray with a good environment from here on out.
