Why would you get an 'un-tame' BTS in the first place?

Some people wanna tame them themselves. Or just for show..the same reason you'd get a nile monitor or venomous snake really, an animal to look nice :)

Jess you still keeping fish? Or just herps?

Just herps at the moment mate but DEFO gonna get back into fish if I can, once we've moved all the furniture around I'm looking for a space for a 6x2x2 growout for a pair of leopoldi rays :)

For show? Monitors arent for taming. Its a privelage to have them even come up to you, much less surrender for handling. I understand wanting the animal to be conditioned to YOU, thats what youre supposed to do. But I dont think you should go out and find the meanest herp out there just because you can...

Would if you cant tame it? Taming is supposed to be a slow, gradual proccess. most people get frustrated and dont see it from the animals point of view and eventually force handle until it loses the will to fight back. ( I know what Im talking about this time ;))

Jess, youre getting leopoldis!? No fair! Im gonna try and get a motoro pair after I get money from a summer job next year.... Maybe even get a silver aro too if I can.

Silver arrowas are pains in the bums man, they jump if you come near the tank (mine did anyway..it was REALLY wary) it was a nightmare doing w/c's with it. Motoros are great, what size tank you got/getting for them?

As for the show thing. Re read my post, a few times if it helps. you didn't understand what I wrote. A better example is most chameleons. Better left unhandled. Not everyone wants an animal just so you can hold it ya know ;)

Some people wanna learn more about the animals, breed them, maybe want a challenge in herp keeping, or just wanna look at the animal ;but not touch.

The Beauty of Herp Keeping is that not everyone has got the same idea :)

No one is suggesting that, and when I say show.. I mean so they can look at a well done enclosure with a beautiful animal in it. Not to pick up and SHOW OFF to friends LOL.

Yeah, I'd get an emerald tree boa for "show" but I don't want one yet.

Oh I thought you meant bluetongues! lol I didnt think you meant like an actual display.

I'd want to do something like that in the future. Amazon tree boas or GTPs, or even something small like knobtails or something. You know what Id like to do most though? A big indoor stingray pond with an aro, matamata, and some other amazon fish. Maybe some decorated bromeliads and plants around it or even a small waterfall... Lol, one can dream right?

Id probably start off with everything as a juvie in a 100 gallon or so. Then keep that tank for a possible SW setup (my friend will hook me up with that), and move them to a 400 gallon tub/pond. But I cant do any of that until were out of this rental house, and I get the money after a summer job and whatever I can scrounge up.

So how do you plan on getting leos? Dont they go for a couple thousand?
