Im still trying to look into dithers for gars and trying to come up with the best option before I just buy some fish that I may not like just for a bit of activity. What do you guys think about putting angels with gars? Would they be too nippy and territorial? Or do you think they would be alright?

I will be looking to move by 6 angels in with my 8” Florida as soon as they are big enough not to be a meal (or rather an attempted meal as she can’t swallow them).
Think the gar will be fine personally.
She has albino tinfoils 3” diameter currently so once the angels get 2.5” dia they will be joining. Although the tinfoils will be moving on at 4”too as way too busy for the angels.

You don't think the angels will be too nippy? My gars are my dream fish so I'm worried about them getting their fins bitten.
Personally no but can understand your concern, so of course happy if you decide not to. And will let all know of it doesn’t go well with mine.
Ive thought about it, but right now I’m growing out 3 senegal bichirs to stay in the 75 gallon and I want to wait to get any kind or large catfish until I step the tank up again. A stock tank will be the next move from here but I think a large cat will outgrow the 75 before I’m ready to upgrade
I tried a florida gar with angels and it didn't work. Small gar about 6-7" medium size angels. Had to rehome the angels. I have had a bunch of tinfoils with the same gar(around 15" now)for a couple years and so far so good
Can I ask why the angels needed to be rehomed? Was it aggression from the gar or from the angels?
Bro what size is your gar firstly? It really depends and starts off with what ur gar size is first.
Right now, I've got one at about 12 inches/30cm and one that is about 6.5inches/16cm. They will quickly outgrow the tank theyre in and im mostly just planning for what will stay in there after the gars move up.
