I am trying to get them to eat pellets, ive tried shrimp, but got less reaction to that. Actively swam away actually.


So they will be fine not eating for more than a month? I'm still new into the territory of real Monster Fish so I'm second guessing what i should and shouldnt be doing.

Yah lol. Pretty sure in the wild predatory fish like gars also rarely eat unless they get the opportunity too. It took 2 months of starving for my arowana to start eating pellets. All is good, your gar wouldn’t starve although you may notice it’s stomach sinking slightly

For me, I only feed feeder fish during special occasions as a treat, or usage of feeder fish to prevent my large fish from getting territorial with each other

A sinking stomach just means that they're getting closer to wanting to eat, right? And its good to know that I can really push them without worrying! If only it was as easy as the bichirs I bought! They were only fed live at the LFS and took all of 38 seconds to get them on pellets.

Agression from the gar toward the angels. Fin removing and such. He is still nippy.

I'm not surprised, but im a little surprised at the same time. I would have thought the angels would be the nippy ones.
