Just a thought?

Right now, I've got one at about 12 inches/30cm and one that is about 6.5inches/16cm. They will quickly outgrow the tank theyre in and im mostly just planning for what will stay in there after the gars move up.
The 12” gar will be able to live with angels, but the 6.5” gar may be questionable. Perhaps grow it up to 8”.

So you think angels would harass the smaller one at that size?

Basing off an estimate, the angels would have to be larger than 3” to be prevented from getting eaten by the 12” gar. I am not familiar with angels, but based on the other comments, a group of 4” angels will harass the 6” gar

Ok, so it would probably be better to just wait on that then. Im still trying to break the gars off of feeders. They're stubborn and I'm too weak and keep caving and giving them fish so they dont starve. Even harder with the little one needing constant access to food.

why cave in? how long do you wait for them to starve before you cave in?

the longest i let it go was 2.5 weeks. I just start to feel bad after so long when I know they arent eating so I end up buying more feeders when I should just keep holding out. My problem is that they seem to be choosing "die" when presented with the "eat-this-or-die" method

Mmmmmmm, but what’s the eat this? If I were given unnatural pellet then yes, no thanks, but if given mussel meat, fish strips or sprat then, think I could be persuaded not to starve.

Bro 2.5 weeks isn’t that long lol. I would understand if it’s a payara, as they are known to starve themselves instead of giving in to frozen foods.
Gars, they pretty much eat anything. My gar went 4 months without food before. You have to jut be patient and it would eventually give in

I am trying to get them to eat pellets, ive tried shrimp, but got less reaction to that. Actively swam away actually.

So they will be fine not eating for more than a month? I'm still new into the territory of real Monster Fish so I'm second guessing what i should and shouldnt be doing.
