Thanks for all this good info.. i feel bad that he is alone now.. may have trouble with him eating..i tried tonight but he was not interested i tried frozen blood worms.. i realize it is too soon.. but when should i begin to worry if he does not eat.. then i will get him tiny crickets or guppys.. usually i have them on hand but have not raised any guppys lately...|-------i will try to move the plants around a bit.. it is a live plant tank he is in for quarenteen.. nothing for him to be afraid of ....except the rope fish..and he won't bother him.. thanks very much for all your help..appreciate it kindly.... all of you have been great..Will Hayward;3021887; said:They are cool fish imo.
I hear rumors they can grow past 12" but I've yet to see them pass ~8 or 9". They do best in groups and will always hang out together. They are a bit flighty and nervous, and much more so when kept alone. Keep in a tank with a large footprint as they have a tendency of freaking out and swimming nose first into a wall. Use a Large net with very fine mesh when moving them. Also, if you put plants that reach the water surface along they back wall and the two sides, they will be less likely to swim into the tank sides. Think of plating VALS in a formation like
I have fed them frozen foods, live fish, live shrimp, flakes floating pellets. Some have been slightly picky or not interested in food where other batches will hit anything once they have settled in. They may try to eat anything that will fit in their mouths. If you keep them with small fish or tetras, they mush be large or high-bodied tetras like Black Skirts for example.
too bad.. he sounded like he was a really good one... mine is doing good..still no eating but i will try tonight..Wheat;3024721; said:Had one of those until a couple weeks ago when my pbass decided to make him lunch. he ate Hikari carnivore sticks. Ate them the first time I put them in the tank. He also ate frozen krill.
